"Alongside Ostler’s exhibition, you’ll find the works of Leonora Carrington (from Sat 26 Oct). Both artists’ shows reveal a fascinating connection, exploring how their artistic careers were shaped and sometimes impacted in different ways by caregiving responsibilities and the challenges of gender bias." firstsite website. |

"Playfulness...tinged with gentle sadness,....there is humour there as well, ...and a willingness to be abstract." I'm quite drawn to Distributed Network in the catalogue; it seems quite different from many of the works presented there and seems to have a great willingness to be abstract. You refer to post-minimalism in the catalogue (which is a "group" of artists that I love deeply; Eva Hesse, Robert Smithson, and Richard Serra are amongst my "heroes"!) and that makes sense in relation to that work in particular. I enjoy the playfulness in many of the other works, too. Sometimes it strikes me as tinged with gentle sadness, which is perhaps one of the emotions experienced in care-giving. But there is humour there as well, which matters.
