A workshop is more informal than a structured lesson. There may be the option to 'drop in' if it is hosted in a public space, but in my experience the same paper work is done in preparation, and the same health and safety rules followed. The outcomes for learners may be different, as it may be more explorative in ethos, but if children are the learners then the workshop may offer a take away outcome such as a model or a puppet. The outcome could be an exhibition, or the creation of a permanantly installed artworks, for a specific purpose, as was the case when I worked with Peterborough General Hospital. 1987 The Pines Psychiatric Day Cente, Peterborough General Hospital, Works of Art in Public Places Scheme, Eastern Arts. 1987, Printmaker in Residence.
